Driving most of the elevation gain is always a good thing for me.
Five of us met at my house (which i have to admit that I loved leading a like from my place) and then we picked up Rick in Enumclaw. When we got to Forest
Service Road 70 we accidentally took one of the wrong gravel roads. (Thanks guys for being very patient and helpful during this) After we realized my mistake,
we got on the middle road at the fork and this took us to the trailhead.
I love hiking along ridges as this one gave us good views and a nice breeze. Paintbrush and a few other wildflowers were still in bloom. We saw a lot of damage
from last years wildfires as we hiked to the top by Dalles Ridge. Here we stopped for lunch and also to enjoy a view. Mt. Rainier was partially obscured by
clouds though as well as a haze covering most of the Cascades. Along the trail we saw some large goats carrying gear for some hunters. Needless to say it was
a funny sight to see. We had an easy hike back to our cars and passed on the apres-hike tailgater. (Since we were already late due to the earlier delay)
Now I want to backpack at Lost Lake which is near Noble Knob. Anybody interested?
