Today, the first day of National Forest Week, 3 of us hiked in a National Forest to Talapus and Olallie Lakes. It was a warm and sunny day. Most of the trail is in the shade of the forest. The last portion of the hike to Talapus Lake you could hear and frequently see Talapus Creek as it cascaded down hill. We went above Olallie Lake to the juntion of the Pratt Lake trail. We could see a little water through the trees, but not a good view of the lake. From above Olallie Lake we saw many bear grass in bloom and got a look down to Olallie Lake with Mount Rainier in the distance.
